“I love how FirstJob thinks, always finding a way to weave in positives about me.

They are literally changing the way I think about myself and my experiences.”

From a recent client’s Mom:

Hi Sam!

I can’t tell you how excited Tyler was after he met with you at your home. He felt really empowered and validated by you and felt you understood his nature and his innate talents and gifts. Thank you for what you do to help other peoples’ families. Tyler said that he definitely wants to work with you if he doesn’t get this job. This job could be a longshot depending on the competition of course. Now that you are on the OUR team, I have no doubt that Tyler will find the right path as he moves forward. Your enthusiasm for him helps him have enthusiasm for himself. That is a real gift.

When I first met Sam, I didn’t know what I wanted for my next career step- other than something different. Sam asked pointed questions that helped identify my skill set and values. Her judgement-free approach allowed me to be honest about what I really wanted. She was able to to provide important insights into career paths that matched those values and skills. Now, I have a job in a totally different field where I am able to be successful and feel valued! ~Todd B.

FROM CARSON Age 32

Hi Lyndsey! I was just thinking about you guys the other day. I’m really thankful for the help you gave me after Medici. I wouldn’t have been able to get the job I have now without all the things you did to my resume and LinkedIn.

Not to sound too dramatic but you changed my life trajectory and I can never thank you enough

From Ben

Working with Lyndsey was a total game-changer! She revamped my resume, gave me insightful tips for my Linkedin profile, wrote a strong cover letter, prepped me for interviews, and boosted my confidence to the sky. Thanks to her, I had two job offers on the table and she helped me negotiate to get the offer. If you're ready to supercharge your career, Lyndsey is the dynamic coach you've been waiting for. Don't think twice – work with her!

From Akasha:

Lyndsey was recommended to me by a friend after I moved to Austin and was having a difficult time finding a job. I had moved to Austin after graduating with my Graduate degree and was so excited for the opportunities I knew were in Austin. But I was discouraged day in and day out with the quality of jobs I was finding and not hearing back from them.

Lyndsey was my saving grace. She helped me to better frame my resume to amplify my skills and experiences, She helped me prepare for my job interviews to be fully prepared to nail the interview and finally she helped me uncover job opportunities that were right up my ally. After a short time working with Lyndsey, I landed a great job in the field I wanted to be in! It changed my views of the job and hiring market.

I would recommend Lyndsey to anyone, graduate students looking to get into a specific carrier field, a professional looking for a change in their career, or someone such as myself that just needed a little help feeling more confident about the whole hiring processes and knowing where to look for the right jobs.

From Jenny:

I can't express how grateful I am for Lyndsey's guidance as my career coach. From rewriting my resume to prepping me for interviews, she was my unwavering cheerleader. Thanks to her, I confidently navigated the job market and land an offer I was super excited about. If you're looking for a coach who truly cares and delivers results, Lyndsey is the one!

Her meticulous resume and cover letter writing, interview prep, and expert negotiation guidance were instrumental in my job search success. Beyond the skills, her unwavering belief in my potential fueled my confidence. I wholeheartedly recommend Lyndsey to anyone seeking not just a coach, but a true mentor.

From the Mother of a recent client of Samantha’s.

Several months ago my son was let go from his job and was struggling to decide which direction to take next in his career and how to get started. I put him in contact with Samantha, owner of First Job Austin. This wasn’t his first job, but she helped him assess his skills, strengths and interests and gave him several career areas he hadn’t previously considered. Sam helped him whip his resume and LinkedIn profile in shape. She helped him with intro letters and practice interview questions. She was positive, encouraging and kept him motivated on his job search. He just started his new position and is excited to begin a new career path. I am so, SO glad that my son was able to benefit from her help!!

Luke
After a year of questionable experience post college, I moved to Austin and encountered far more resistance in even getting my foot in the door of a company for a first interview than I had anticipated. I started working with Sam, and above and beyond normal career guidance services like resume and cover letter tailoring, a professional headshot, interviewing skills, and job search techniques, she helped me regain confidence in my experience and abilities and get the momentum going to land an offer about a month from our first meeting. The size of her network is daunting, and she is constantly attending events to keep up on the Austin job scene. She gave me refreshingly frank advice, encouraged me to follow my gut, and I'm happier than I thought I could be with the job and company she helped me find. Luke.

I can’t thank you enough for all the energy and attention to detail you put into helping me make the best out of what I have and quickly transition jobs. Without a doubt hiring you for career mentoring was one of the best investments I’ll have made in my professional career. I sincerely appreciate your professionalism, positive attitude and desire to see your people succeed. There isn’t a peer of mine I wouldn’t recommend you to. Next week starts my position at LogicMonitor; I will have gone from a job where I could take up to 14 days off to a job I am required to take at least 15 days off. For me this change in work life balance has changed my outlook so much for the better and I can’t thank you enough. Please stay in touch and let me know if I can ever help you out! In Health. Hans.

Michael
Dear Samantha, I wanted to take this moment to thank you immensely for the many hours you have dedicated to grooming me for professional success. Not only did you help me with my resume, but you taught me how to quickly draft and modify a cover letter and how to interview. You basically helped me in all aspects. I look forward to continuing to work with you in the future and making you proud. Warm Regards, Michael

Ann
Dear Sam, Yours is a the happiest “thank you” I’ve written lately! Without you, I would not have landed this job! I cannot thank you enough for helping me get my confidence back, for polishing me up on paper, for holding my hand and helping with all of my cover letters and job preparation. I won’t have you holding my hand in my new job, but just like a mom and toddler, you got me on my feet and now it is my turn to learn to stand on my own and walk “Forward”. God is so very constant. He put a Godly person in my path to build me back up. I finally see a future beginning for me. Sincerely, Ann

Jennifer

Sam helped me hunt down my first job in the service industry. I'm actually doing really well I am at a new establishment for which I was given the responsibility of modifying the identity and image. I was recently even made a manager and really think I could have a future here. I still brag to friends about the fresh resume you created and still show it off! I could not have done it without Sam. - Clay

Dear Samantha -

Thank you for helping me figure out how to improve my interviewing skills. I can't tell you how much your coaching helped improve my confidence and wish I had contacted you sooner. I had the skills all along, just needed work on a way to better convey them. And I've worked with others in the past who wanted me to rewrite the book but really appreciated your approach to find a way to convey myself in my own words.

I'll be in touch with you about career coaching in the future. Sincerely, Daniel King

I had just moved back to Austin from California where I had been jobless for about a month and I was really discouraged about ever finding something. I was especially frustrated because the only jobs I had up to that point were retail jobs, and I wanted something in tech. I met with Samantha during my first week back in town and we got to work on finding me a job. Within two weeks I had an interview, and soon I got a job offer at an e-commerce company. It was amazing and I don't know what I would have done without her! Certainly my job search would have been much more stressful and lonely without her help. - Jessica

Pam
It was always my plan to go back to work once my children were teenagers. Actually making that happen was a daunting task. When Samantha began to help me redo my resume, I realized that I had been working all that time! My hours of volunteer work had actually provided me with great experience. Samantha and I were able to get my resume up to date and ready to go. She was also a great help with tips on the interview process, and even ideas about where to send my resume. With her help, I was quickly able to land a job. Years later, I have had several promotions and am doing great. - Pam

Coming off the high of being a college graduate I was ready to dive into the job search. I worked hard on my resume, went on countless interviews, but received no job offers. I began to feel confused about where I would fit in the career world and realized that I needed help. During my one-on-one coaching with Sam, we focused on the eloquence of my speech. She helped me develop a better focus on why certain jobs matched my skill set. Sam spent quality time learning about me, and researching career paths for which I was best suited. I had been applying for jobs since March while I was still in school and didn't have much luck even after graduating. Around September I finally reached out to Samantha for help and she hit the ground running with me and we perfected my resume, cover letter and interviewing skills together. After literally 2 meetings over the course of a week I had two job interviews with companies I had actually gotten rejected from previously and ended up accepting an offer from Main Street Hub and couldn't be happier. I've been in the tech industry for three years as a programmer. In this industry, it's generally known that in order to advance in responsibility and wages, you need to look outside of your current organization. I had a good job, but I felt my advancement opportunities were limited, so I created a resume and began my job search. After some interviews, I had not received an offer. I turned to Samantha for some job interview training. Sam worked with me on my voice, my posture and presence, and how to firmly state my career and financial goals. On my very next interview, I recalled all we discussed, and was called back for two more interviews until I got my offer along with a 25% increase in pay. I am indebted to Sam for all of her coaching and guidance. I'm not sure I'd be at my present job without her help. -Cayla

Lynda
I had a promising career before taking a career break and having three children. Once my youngest was in Kindergarten, I went back to grad school at St Edward's University for my MBA. I graduated in May 2018, with much anticipation that I would find employment rather quickly.

However, I found the 14-year career break was hurting my prospects. Even with two undergraduate degrees and a recent MBA; I was barely getting any interviews. I hired a resume writer and a career coach in October of 2018; I got a pretty resume and some advice on how to look for a job. I started receiving some requests for interviews; but still, no job offers. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong.

I was frustrated, and about to completely give up hope; when I heard about Sam. I started working with her in April 2019; she cleaned up my resume, gave me the confidence and showed me step by step on how to embark on the job hunt. I was skeptical at first because I had already spent too much money on similar services with no results. But Sam was different; she had a plan for me to follow and made sure I followed it.

I needed that hand holding and someone telling me what to do since I had not worked outside the home in over 14 years. I started with her on April 03, 2019, and accepted a job offer on May 14, 2019. Working with Sam was the best investment in myself, my career, and my self-confidence. Without a doubt, her training, hand-holding, guidance, and diligence in helping me was the reason I now have a job to jump-start my career. - Lynda Quintana

I had to quickly get a job when my husband was threatened with a layoff. Having not worked since having my son 10 years earlier, I was freaked out and did not know where to start. Sam was a Godsend. She helped me put together a super professional resume and a compelling cover letter. She showed me how to find openings that fit my skills and peppered me with preparatory interview questions. I felt SO prepared! With my new-found confidence, I landed the second job for which I interviewed! All my thanks to Sam, she is a wonder! - Kelli

Sam was an amazing help in getting my first job out of college. We worked hard for three months applying and prepping for interviews and BOOM, I got what I thought was my dream job. Success, right? But after 3 months, much of what the interviewer had promised did not actually happen. I was stuck in a heartless place and the company had just been sold. My boss left, the team moral was at an all time low. I contacted Sam. We jumped back into applying, using my recent experience as an asset. I landed another job within 30 days at a tech start up downtown and I am completely happy! All due to Sam and her belief in me. She’s the BEST. - Tom
